ART DIRECTOR AND LEAD DESIGN FOR EVERY PIECE OF CREATIVE FOR THE 2017-2018 COLLEGE FOOTBALL SEASON. PARTNERED WITH AND DIRECTED FLIXEL TO CREATE CINEMAGRAPHS FOR OUR CFP NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP AND SEMIFINAL ON-AIR CAMPAIGN.
THIS YEAR'S FANTASY FOOTBALL MARKETING INITIATIVE WAS DONE COMPLETELY IN-HOUSE. THIS GAVE ME THE OPPORTUNITY TO HELP IN ALL ASPECTS OF THIS 360 CAMPAIGN. ALONG WITH A GREAT COPYWRITER, WE WERE ABLE TO CREATE THIS SET OF COMMERCIAL SPOTS, ON-AIR DROP-INS, VERTICAL VIDEOS, SOCIAL CONTENT AND SO MUCH MORE.
MY ROLE AS ART DIRECTOR INCLUDED CONCEPTING, ASSISTING WITH COPYWRITING, STORYBOARDING, COSTUME AND SET DESIGN, DIRECTION AND POST PRODUCTION.
VARIOUS SOCIAL MEDIA WORK
WatchESPN IS AN ONLINE STREAMING SERVICE FOR ESPN SPORTING EVENTS AND PROGRAMS. IT AVERAGES 1.3 BILLION MINUTES STREAMED PER MONTH— IN OTHER WORDS, EXTREMELY SUCCESSFUL. BUT DURING BROADCAST BREAKS, THE STREAMING SERVICE POSTED A SIMPLE “BE BACK SHORTLY” MESSAGE TO MAINTAIN ITS COMMERCIAL-FREE PROMISE.
IT IS HERE THAT WE FOUND AN OPPORTUNITY TO ADVERTISE ESPN’S OWNED PROPERTIES. UTILIZING SPORTSCENTER ANCHORS, WE PLACED THEM IN FUN SITUATIONS TO HELP CAPTURE THE ATTENTION OF OUR AUDIENCE.
MY ROLE AS ART DIRECTOR INCLUDED IDEA CONCEPTING, PHOTO SHOOT DIRECTION AND PRODUCTION, AS WELL AS COSTUME DESIGN AND PHOTO EDITING.
I was able to create a logo, street signs and some images for a couple of friends' birthday party.
AFTER COLLEGE, A CHILDHOOD FRIEND AND I CREATED A LIFESTYLE CLOTHING COMPANY BASED IN LAS VEGAS. THE BRAND, CITY LEGENDS, WAS ASPIRATIONAL AND CHALLENGED ITS WEARERS TO LIVE UP TO THEIR OWN POTENTIAL. IT WASN’T JUST ABOUT REACHING SUCCESS, BUT ALSO THE JOURNEY THERE. IN MAJOR CITIES LIKE VEGAS, IT IS HEALTHY FOR PEOPLE TO REALIZE THEIR ACCOMPLISHMENTS, AND HOW THEY ARE VIEWED BECAUSE OF THEM.
MY ROLE IN THE COMPANY WAS TO CREATE CONTENT, STRUCTURE MARKETING AND DESIGN EVERYTHING — COMPANY LOGO, MASCOT, WORD MARK, MARKETING MATERIALS, AND EACH PIECE OF APPAREL FOUND ON THE SITE.

ATTENDING UNIVERSITY OF OREGON HELPED ME DEVELOP A DEEP-ROOTED LOVE FOR COLLEGE SPORTS. THAT’S WHAT MADE THIS OPPORTUNITY SO INCREDIBLE.
THERE ARE 128 COLLEGE FOOTBALL TEAMS ACROSS DIVISION-1 FBS. FOR EACH, I WAS ASKED TO CREATE A UNIQUE BUT RECOGNIZABLE ILLUSTRATION WITHOUT USING SCHOOL LOGOS. THIS MEANT RESEARCHING EACH FAN BASE TO UNDERSTAND THEIR MOTTOS, MASCOTS, AND TRADITIONS SO THAT THE IMAGES CAME ACROSS AS AUTHENTIC TO EACH, WHILE MAINTAINING A CONSISTENT LOOK AND FEEL ACROSS ALL SCHOOLS.
THE DESIGNS WERE USED IN A VARIETY OF WAYS, INCLUDING USE ON PRINTED POSTERS, SOCIAL, INFO CARDS AND WALL WRAPS. THE ARTWORK WAS EVEN USED BY THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP VIP HOSPITALITY PROGRAM.

In the past 6 months, I have been able to create custom Snapchat filters for various occasions like birthdays, proposals and weddings.
THE COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS GARNER NATIONAL ATTENTION FROM A MASSIVE AUDIENCE BEGINNING IN EARLY NOVEMBER WHEN THE OFFICIAL RANKINGS ARE RELEASED. PLAYOFF PROJECTIONS CHANGE WITH EACH GAME, AS SCHOOLS TRY TO PROVE THEMSELVES WORTHY OF A FINAL FOUR SEED. BECAUSE OF THIS, AN ADAPTABLE PLAYOFF PROJECTION GRAPHIC BECAME A NECESSITY.
MY ROLE WAS TO CREATE AN EASY-TO-EDIT TEMPLATE FOR THE TOP-25 RANKINGS SHOW, WHICH IS LIVE BROADCAST ON ESPN FOLLOWING EACH OF THE FINAL SIX WEEKS OF THE COLLEGE FOOTBALL SEASON. FOR CONSISTENCY, I WAS ALSO TASKED WITH CREATING POSTERS, DIGITAL BILLBOARDS, WALL WRAPS, INFO CARDS AND DIGITAL TEMPLATES FOR THE “NEW YEAR’S SIX” GAMES. THIS INCLUDES THE CAPITAL ONE ORANGE BOWL, GOODYEAR COTTON BOWL, AND THE COLLEGE FOOTBALL NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP.

THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST EXTENSIVE PROJECTS I HAVE DONE AT ESPN — A SEASON-LONG CAMPAIGN WITH THE NBA BRAND TEAM THAT INVOLVED MYSELF AND TWO OTHER DESIGNERS CUSTOM-CREATING HAND DRAWN LETTERING GRAPHICS FOR THREE TO FOUR ON-AIR SPOTS PER WEEK TO BE USED FOR ESPN’S MARQUEE GAMES. EACH VIDEO USED POPULAR BASKETBALL PHRASES TO CONVEY AN IDEA OR MATCHUP STORYLINE.
BY THE END OF THE CAMPAIGN I HAD DRAWN HUNDREDS OF GRAPHICS. ONCE EACH GRAPHIC AS DIGITIZED, I WORKED CLOSELY WITH THE ANIMATION TEAM TO BRING THEM TO LIFE IN EACH COMMERCIAL. SOME DESIGNS, INCLUDING A PLAYOFF TEAM COLLECTION, MADE IT ON TO SHIRTS, POSTERS, BILLBOARDS AND DIGITAL ADS.
MY ROLE AS ART DIRECTOR ON THIS PROJECT INCLUDED IDEA CONCEPTING, ILLUSTRATION AND COPYWRITING AS WELL AS ANIMATING THE GRAPHICS WITH AN EDITOR. I WAS ONE OF THREE DESIGNERS TO WORK ON THE PROJECT.

ESPN AND ONE OF ITS SPONSORS, MAZDA, PARTNERED UP FOR BOTH THE CHICAGO AND NEW YORK AUTO SHOWS. ESPN DID RADIO BROADCASTS FROM THE MAZDA SHOW ROOM FLOOR AT EACH EVENT, BUT NEEDED A WAY TO STAND OUT.
IN ORDER TO DRAW THE DESIRED ATTENTION TO THE ESPN BROADCAST (AND MAZDA SHOW ROOM FLOOR), I CREATED A WALL WITH HANGING SIGNAGE FEATURING LOCAL TALENT AND LANDMARKS FROM EACH MARKET. THE GRAPHICS ENCOMPASSED THE ENTIRETY OF THE ESPN BROADCAST STAGE, AND WERE SEEN BY OVER ONE MILLION ATTENDEES AT EACH LOCATION.
THE GRAPHICS WERE STYLIZED TO FIT THE LOOK AND FEEL OF THE SPORTSCENTER BRANDING, AND WERE IN THE BACKGROUND OF EACH FAN PICTURE AS THEY MET A LOCAL SPORTS HERO ON SITE.
ONE OF MY FAVORITE THINGS TO DO IS DESIGN SHIRTS - FOR SPECIAL EVENTS, FOR MILESTONES, AND FOR A VARIETY OF COMPANIES. THIS INCLUDES 35 DESIGNS FOR THE ESPN SPORTS HEAVEN COLLECTION, XS NIGHTCLUB, AND MUSICIANS DIPLO, SKRILLEX AND MORGAN PAGE.

ESPN WANTED AN ON-AIR COMMERCIAL SPOT FOR THE 2014 NBA DRAFT THAT HIGHLIGHTED THE INTRIGUE AND POTENTIAL SURROUNDING THE PLAYERS DRAFTED. EACH PLAYER HAS THE OPPORTUNITY TO REACH STARDOM, AND CAN PROVIDE A FAN BASE WITH NEWFOUND HOPE FOR THE TEAM’S FUTURE.
SO WE CREATED A COMMERCIAL TO SHOW THAT THE NBA DRAFT IS A PLAYER’S JUMP-OFF TO STARDOM. COINCIDING WITH THE COMMERCIAL, WE CREATED A SOCIAL EXTENSION FEATURING JALEN ROSE. THE VIDEO WAS FILMED AS AN INFOMERCIAL FOR NBA DRAFT PROSPECTS TO PREPARE THEM FOR THEIR BIG DAY.
MY ROLE AS LEAD DESIGNER INCLUDED CONCEPTING, COPYWRITING, PRODUCTION AND DIRECTION. CHECK OUT THE WORK BELOW.
THE ARMY IS NOT A PLACE THAT PLACES EMPHASIS ON CREATIVE. FUNCTION IS FAR MORE VALUABLE THAN THE AESTHETICS. BEFORE MY ARRIVAL, THEIR GRAPHICS WERE CREATED IN EITHER MICROSOFT WORD OR POWERPOINT.
SO I BRIDGED THE GAP. COLLATERAL CAN BE BOTH CREATIVE AND FUNCTIONAL. FOR THE ANNUAL ST. BARBARA’S BALL IN BOTH 2014 AND 2015, I CREATED ARMY-BRANDED MATERIALS INCLUDING INVITATIONS, PROGRAM BROCHURES, POSTERS AND SHIRTS.
